The WERDENFELSEREI is located in the centre of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, surrounded by impressive mountains with unique peaks and phenomenal views. It builds on the history and tradition of the town. It is different, it is traditional. It is modern and constantly reinvents itself. You see it, you marvel at it. As soon as you enter the lobby, you feel like you’re ‘back home’. Because the Werdenfelserei is welcoming. It is open. It loves its guests and welcomes them with a cosy atmosphere.
The location
About 80 kilometres south of Munich lies the WERDENFELSEREI. At the foot of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Between high mountain peaks, ice-blue rivers and lush meadows. Not far from the crystal-clear Eibsee – one of the most island-rich lakes in Bavaria with an unrivalled view of the Alpine panorama. And right next to the beautiful Michael Ende Park. Quaint and original, but also original and open.

The solid wood boutique hotel with its lovingly furnished studios and suites is run by the Erhardt family together with all the staff. A family that has been anchored in Partenkirchen as a host family for many generations.

Since opening in 2018, the WERDENFELSEREI has kept its promise. The promise that passion, courage to try new things and hospitality for an unforgettable experience, for an unforgettable time out, are unbroken. For the symbiosis of locals and guests, as well as tradition and modernity, shaping a piece of the future together.
The family & the Werdenfelserei feeling
“Down-to-earth, but visually special. Without being aloof.” This is the WERDENFELSEREI. A project close to the heart of the Erhardt family, who have been farming at the foot of the Zugspitze since the 17th century. The Erhardt family and their two daughters opened the boutique hotel in 2018. From the very beginning, it was clear that they wanted to create a warm place where you can draw strength and lightness from the natural materials of the house. Origin, nature and tradition should be in harmony here. But not in a kitschy way – after all, we are not on the set of a home movie here. Rather, the Werdenfelserei should reflect the beauty and solidarity of the wonderful landscape of the Werdenfelser Land in a cosmopolitan and modern way.
Almost everything in the Werdenfelserei is made from natural products. You notice this as soon as you enter the lobby and it continues throughout the interior and into the kitchen. Here you can consciously celebrate naturalness, enjoy unique moments and actively experience them.
Awards
We love what we do. And it’s all the nicer when our warmth and passion is also seen. First and foremost, of course, by our guests. But we are also proud of the numerous awards we have received since opening our hotel.

Werdenfelserei wins the coveted KAYAK Travel Award 2023! The KAYAK Travel Awards recognize partners who go above and beyond for travelers – based on the reviews of the guests themselves. Not only do we meet the criteria for the “Excellent” category, but we have also received extremely positive feedback from our guests. We are extremely pleased about this recognition, which shows us that you can make guests happy with dedication, warmth and a large portion of sincere hospitality!

The TOP50 Hotelier award has been presented by the editors of the Schlummer Atlas hotel guide since 2009. Aspects such as exemplary character, team and innovation skills, sense of responsibility and regional significance are taken into account, as well as the assessments of the editors of the Schlummer Atlas hotel guide themselves.
For us, this is above all a great confirmation of the excellent work of our team. This award confirms to us that a “good hotel” is no longer “just” about things like facilities, location and room size. Yes, of course these factors also play a role in whether a guest visits us again. But the tangible, genuine warmth of the team and the hosts is becoming increasingly important. And we believe that what you like to do, you do well and from the heart.

The RELAX Guide presents the Lily Award every year. This award honors the best hotels in Austria, Germany and South Tyrol in the categories of wellness, spa, health and beauty. All hotels are tested anonymously and according to clearly defined strict criteria. We are therefore all the more delighted that the Werdenfelserei has once again received the coveted SPA Lily Award in 2023, making it one of the best wellness and health hotels.

Each year, the Connoisseur Circle honors the best hosts in the world. The Connoisseur Circle is considered the market leader among high-quality travel magazines in German-speaking countries. The award recognizes hotels in Germany that offer an exceptional standard of service and facilities. It honors hosts and hotel teams whose passion for their profession ensures unforgettable vacation and experience moments.
Hotels that have rendered outstanding services to their guests. A Connoisseur Circle, TrustYou and a public vote are used to select the best of the best in Germany in 12 categories and 2 special categories.
This year we were nominated in the category “Hideaways with Flair” and were voted 2nd place by the jury.

In its #2 issue 2020, GEO SAISON portrayed the “50 most beautiful new hotels in Europe”. The various new hotel concepts presented are intended to provide travel inspiration for every taste. The selected hotels range from clean design to magnificent sea views, mountain panoramas, dreamy solitude and hip locations.
But all the accommodations have one thing in common – they are always new and always special. This also applies to the Werdenfelserei, which is presented in this issue as one of the “50 most beautiful hotels in Europe”.

We were delighted to share some good news with you in March – Werdenfelserei was nominated for the German Brand Award… and even received an award in June! The award for successful brand management recognizes innovative brands in a wide range of economic sectors in Germany.
Winning awards in two categories – “Excellent Brands in Tourism” and “Newcomer Brand of the Year” – is a great honor for us and we look back with joy on the evening of the award ceremony in Berlin!

The gourmet and travel magazine SAVOIR VIVRE has rated our hotel restaurant as “Excellent”. Our head chef Johannes Wäger, who is known for his excellent craftsmanship and creative cuisine, is particularly pleased about this honor.

What an honor – in April 2019, we received the “Newcomer of the Year” award at the Top Hotel Opening Award. The award honors the best hotel openings of the past year in the five categories Boutique, First Class, Leisure, Design and Budget.
In the “Leisure” category, we were able to convince the jury of our boutique hotel concept and stand out from the other newcomers. We are delighted with this success.

Spectacular hotel property – the Werdenfelserei was nominated by Hotelforum as “Hotel Property of the Year 2018”. This award recognizes special hotel concepts that stand out from their competitors thanks to their successful overall concept of architecture, design and innovation. We were all the more delighted to be nominated for such an honorable award by the expert jury so soon after our opening.

Not even opened yet and already awarded – the Werdenfelserei was named “Best Newcomer of the year 2018” by the magazine “Hideaways” published by Klocke Verlag in Bielefeld. Hideaways are the most beautiful hotels in the world. What a wonderful start for the Werdenfelserei!
