The Location
Around 80 kilometres south of Munich, you’ll find the WERDENFELSEREI. At the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. Between towering peaks, icy-blue rivers and lush meadows. Close to the crystal-clear Eibsee — one of Bavaria’s lakes with the most islands, offering spectacular views of the Alps. And right beside the beautiful Michael-Ende Park. Full of character. Rooted in tradition. Original and open-minded.
Our Werdenfelserei Family
Together with their dedicated team, the Erhardt family runs this solid-wood boutique hotel with its lovingly furnished studios and suites. A family with roots in Partenkirchen’s hospitality stretching back generations.

The Family & the Werdenfelserei Feeling
“Down to earth, with a distinctive look. And no airs and graces.” That’s the WERDENFELSEREI. A labour of love for the Erhardt family, whose farming roots at the foot of the Zugspitze date back to the 17th century. In 2018, the Erhardts opened the boutique hotel together with their two daughters. From the start, they wanted to create a warm, welcoming place where natural materials help you recharge and feel a little lighter. A place where heritage, nature and tradition come together. Without the kitsch — we’re hardly on the set of a nostalgic Alpine film, after all. Instead, the Werdenfelserei reflects the beauty of the Werdenfelser Land and its deep connection to the landscape in a modern, open-minded way.
Almost everything at the Werdenfelserei comes from nature. You notice it as soon as you step into the lobby. It runs through the interiors and right into the kitchen. Here, you can embrace the natural, savour special moments and be part of the experience.

For us, above all, it’s wonderful recognition of our team’s outstanding work. This award reminds us that a great hotel is about so much more than its facilities, location or room sizes. All hotels are reviewed anonymously against clearly defined, strict criteria. We’re all the more delighted that the Werdenfelserei received the coveted SPA Lily Award once again in 2023, placing us among the best spa and health hotels

In its second issue of 2020, GEO SAISON featured the “50 most beautiful new hotels in Europe”. Showcasing a variety of hotel concepts, the selection offered travel inspiration for every taste. From clean design and spectacular sea views to mountain panoramas, dreamy seclusion and vibrant locations.
What did they all have in common? Each was new. And each was special. Including the Werdenfelserei, featured as one of the “50 most beautiful new hotels in Europe”.

Wonderful news arrived in March — the Werdenfelserei had been nominated for the German Brand Award… and in June, we won! Celebrating successful brand management, the award recognises innovative brands across a wide range of industries in Germany.
We’re honoured to have received awards in two categories — “Excellent Brands in Tourism” and “Newcomer Brand of the Year” — and look back fondly on the awards evening in Berlin!

2019
The gourmet and travel magazine SAVOIR VIVRE rated our hotel restaurant as “Excellent”. Our head chef Johannes Wäger, known for his culinary craftsmanship and creative cooking, is especially delighted with this recognition.
Tophotel Award

What an honour — in April 2019, we received the award for “Newcomer of the Year” at the Tophotel Opening Award. The award recognises the best hotel openings of the previous year across five categories: Boutique, First Class, Leisure, Design and Budget.
Our boutique hotel concept won over the jury in the “Leisure” category and helped us stand out among the newcomers. We’re absolutely delighted with this success.

A spectacular hotel property — the Werdenfelserei was nominated by Hotelforum for “Hotel Property of the Year 2018”. The award recognises exceptional hotels that stand out through a successful combination of architecture, design and innovation. Being nominated by the expert jury for such a prestigious award so soon after opening made it all the more special.

An award before we’d even opened our doors — the Werdenfelserei was named “Best Newcomer of the Year 2018” by Hideaways magazine, published by Klocke Verlag in Bielefeld. Hideaways showcases some of the world’s most beautiful hotels. What a wonderful way to begin our Werdenfelserei story!
